Villa di Tirano is situated on the edge of the town of Tirano. Tirano is located in the Valtellina in the province of Sondrio, Northern Italy. It has a population of around 9000 and is adjacent to the Swiss-Italy border. There are two distinct parts to the township of Tirano: The medieval and the more modern. The medieval sector is a delight to wander through with its cobblestone paved streets and lanes, and a myriad of century-old houses, private courtyards, churches and shops. Careful exploration will uncover ancient shop fronts that appear to date back to early Roman times. The light traffic (restricted to residential) allows for a leisurely meander and opportunity to take in the sights, absorb the history and of course time to snap some glorious photographs.
